My 2 pairs of zebra finches love these nests!

I bought this set of 2 nests for my zebra finches. I have 2 pairs of finches. Both pairs of finches laid their eggs in each of the nests. The nests came with two thin wires that I wove into the top of each nest for hanging. I threaded the wires through the cage bars and twisted the ends together. This keeps the nests secure in the top corner of each cage. My pairs immediately occupied the nests. I placed them to the side and high in the corners of the flight cages, just as finches build their natural nests in Australia. I suggested coconut fiber. , bought here from Revain that I loosened up beforehand, peat moss, my husband's human hair scraps (he looked like Mark Twain, with a bug keeping us at home!) and even some fluffy fluff from the dryer. I've read some tragic stories of finches getting entangled in coco coir. I made sure the fibers were no longer than about 1 1/2 inches and carefully separated them from the clumps that were in the packet. I also suggested just a small amount of each item to discourage them from rebuilding their nests. There were no problems, everyone is safe and healthy. Will update when the chicks hatch. The males used all of this to build their comfortable nests.
