This is the original RTV (Room Temperature Vulcanization) formula. I first used it in the 1970's to mount marine radios on any type of surface and to seal holes in ship hulls exposed to high humidity and salt water. It lasts forever and doesn't harden or crack - years later it still has a rubbery consistency. It has a very strong adhesive bond and gives you plenty of time to work with it before shaping the shell. The problem with too many "silicone" sealants and products is that they start to set almost immediately and the finished product doesn't look very good unless you're a professional poet making a living.
