That didn't solve my problem. I moved my daughterboard to this from my old drive and installed this on my PS3. It reads DVDs but not Blu-ray discs or games. I don't need a glorified DVD player. It's not clear if the new drive is defective or if the problem is somewhere else in the system, but it behaves differently than the old drive. The old drive sometimes reads Blu-Ray and sometimes DVD. This reads DVDs very stably and has never read Blu-ray discs or game discs. You will need a tamper-proof torx or tamper-proof torx screwdriver for installation. A regular torx screwdriver will not work. I found that my local Harbor Freight Tools store was selling a multi-size Torx multi-in-one pocket set with security for less than $5, and I got it back in town the same day. I ended up buying a new PS3 for $199. Walmart. It wasn't worth buying another $75 disc and risking another failure.
