Review on FiiO BTA30: Advanced Wireless Bluetooth 5.0 Long Range πŸ”Š Transmitter Receiver for PC/TV/Speaker/Headphone with HiFi Dac/DSP and Streamlined APP Control by Catherine Buhr

Great for LDAC from PC to headphones but far from perfect

I have XM4 and wanted to use them from my PC and am very happy with the results. I connected the BTA30 to my PC (Asus TUF x570 motherboard) and listened to Tidal and the sound was amazing (HiFi or master music on Tidal + XM4 connected to LDAC). Quirks: 1. LDAC for your headphones requires you to use an optical or coaxial cable as the source. If you connect it to your computer, you CANNOT use the LDAC codec (some of you might not care).2. The volume control is not very sensitive. You will find that the difference between the minimum and maximum volume is small.3. The device sometimes fails to connect to the headphones if you left them plugged in and the headphones turn off by themselves. I find when I'm done listening it's best to turn off the BTA30 and headphones, and then vice versa when I want to start listening again. Two devices cannot be paired.4. Hangs from time to time - the device hangs with no power LED but the pairing LED is lit in whatever codec you are listening to. It is required to draw power from the package.5. The device connects and doesn't send Bluetooth audio unless I turn off the headphones and pair them again. I've also noticed that when streaming apps (Tidal, Spotify, Revain Music) there is a click when changing songs. Having no problem connecting to my phone (Pixel 3 LDAC) I believe it's BTA30. If you want to connect LDAC from your PC to your headphones and through an optical or coaxial cable, you'll love it and put up with its downsides. Hopefully Fiio will release a firmware update in the future to make it less buggy. For everything else, I'm not sure I can recommend it.
