I bought one of these sharpeners here in Revein about 8 years ago after reading about them.

I bought one of these sharpeners here in Revein about 8 years ago after reading reviews of other sharpeners about this sharpener. I'm obsessed with sharp knives. I cook a lot and I want my knives to work. To be honest, when I saw this I thought there was no way this ugly thing could be as good as one of the almost 8 sharpeners I have at home. After 8 years of constant use I have to say it works better than any I have. It's easy to use, does what it's supposed to do very well and is excellent value for money. However, this is not a high-precision sharpening tool. To do this, you need much more expensive tools. Also, it's not the kind of tool you use to sharpen things like garden tools or even kitchen knives that are in disrepair like what happens to a knife after slicing thick-boned frozen meat. To do this you use a whetstone and then you use this one. This tool is intended for general use in cooking - which is what we use our knives for most of the time - and it works incredibly well. If you have a cheap set of kitchen knives or one of the high density metal knives like German or Japanese sets, even Damascus steel, then this is what you want to use. should relate to the design. By sharpening a knife and holding it as instructed, you can sense when the knife is sharpening. It feels as if the handle "amplifies" the sense of metal imperfection that a dull blade has. I just can't get it right with any of the sharpeners I have. Excessive sharpness can cause damage. This is important because you will know exactly when to stop. Another thing this sharpener does is it never scratches your blades because the sharpening rods are too small. I've ruined many expensive knives sharpening, and with this sharpener it's almost impossible. If you have an expensive set, this is what you want to use. Well if you're looking for a very precise sharpening this isn't it, but I promise for the money it's worth you won't find a better sharpener. By the way, I've read a lot of people saying that rods lose their ability to sharpen after a while. If that happens you are definitely applying too much pressure and even if you do you may be spinning the rods. See the manufacturer's website for instructions. However I have used mine to sharpen many things without always following the instructions and my rods are still like new.
