Buy it. You will not regret it.

I bought one of these sharpeners and it fell apart after 20+ years of frequent use. So I bought this latest model and it hasn't changed at all from my previous one. This sharpener keeps knives that need "tuning" sharp. If the knife has really been neglected and is as sharp as mashed potatoes then I would recommend using a traditional sharpening stone first and then using the Edge Maker to keep the knife blade sharp. And yes, this Edge Maker makes my 10" Serrated Victorinox Bread Knife super…

Buy It Now! suitable for cutlery and knife accessories

My wife and I are experienced home cooks. We took several lessons to improve our skills and one of them was a knife lesson. The teacher was a professional cook and she recommended this product. She explained that it was given to her and she had no intention of using it, but due to circumstances she was forced to use it while working in the hospitality industry. She said she was so impressed that she continues to use it instead of a sharpener. This article does not disappoint. Makes our knives…

Easy to use and very effective steel

Although listed as a "sharpener" and makes the knife sharper, it does so in the same way as "butcher steel". I personally prefer to use traditional steel with a long pole, but that takes more skill. So my favorite feature of this helper is that it can be used by anyone in the kitchen - before or after cutting. This keeps the knives sharp longer! I would recommend this tool as a complement to a tool that removes metal - a carbide or ceramic object - to drive a knife through a diamond or natural…

Sharpens knives properly

It's not the best knife sharpener I have, but it's not the worst either. This is fine for touching up a stainless steel knife, but seems more suited to carbon steel blades. I have several sharpeners that work much better no matter what metal they are made of and some of them have proven almost useless. For sharpening kitchen knives it is better to use something else, diamond sharpeners work much better. Although there are some other types that work better too. This sharpener can only sharpen at

Easy way to keep knives sharp

I'm not sure I have anything bad to say about this knife sharpener. hmmmm Maybe it's a hideous bright orange color? Even then, it's instantly identifiable in a gadget drawer, making its only downside an added bonus. I'm sure there are people who will say this is not the professional, recommended way to sharpen knives. They will tell you that you must have a whetstone and cooking steel etc. Well I have these things. I used these things. But since buying The Edge Maker, whetstones and cooking…

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Something's wrong

I bought one of these sharpeners here in Revein about 8 years ago after reading reviews of other sharpeners about this sharpener. I'm obsessed with sharp knives. I cook a lot and I want my knives to work. To be honest, when I saw this I thought there was no way this ugly thing could be as good as one of the almost 8 sharpeners I have at home. After 8 years of constant use I have to say it works better than any I have. It's easy to use, does what it's supposed to do very well and is excellent…
