It's not the best knife sharpener I have, but it's not the worst either. This is fine for touching up a stainless steel knife, but seems more suited to carbon steel blades. I have several sharpeners that work much better no matter what metal they are made of and some of them have proven almost useless. For sharpening kitchen knives it is better to use something else, diamond sharpeners work much better. Although there are some other types that work better too. This sharpener can only sharpen at a certain angle, which can be a problem in some cases, but for most purposes it's picked a good angle.
