I used this tool to lay 1000 square feet of tile. On the plus side, it's very easy to determine the angles and associated measurements, eliminating the need to take separate measurements with a tape measure. Another plus is that it is quite durable. On the other hand, the knobs must be tightened with almost superhuman strength to prevent the instrument from bumping and losing adjustment. I got it to work by laying the instrument on the ground, taking measurements, tightening the instrument as much as possible, and then moving it around like it was a bomb about to detonate. I think wing nuts would work much better. Another thing I started doing was taking the tool apart so I could get more difficult angles. Just be careful not to lose the small washers.
