Very disappointing! Inefficient lighting, repackaged or refurbished equipment, hard-to-find power supply. 1- At first the lamp seemed to come in the original packaging, but the lamp has scratches all over the plastic case. Is it a repackaged or refurbished device? Or does OttLite have poor processing standards? 2- Second, I am very disappointed with the range of the lamp (with new batteries). Place 8 1/2" x 11" plain letter paper (landscape) next to it, the lamp only illuminates half of the page well, you can see the light gradually diminishing on the other half of the page. Thus, this lamp does not even have the right lighting for a single sheet of paper. ***Update: After some testing in a fully darkened room, the lamp covers a small sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" paper, but no more. 3- Third, OttLite says on their website that their natural lighting technology offers a correlated color temperature (CCT) of 5000-5800K. I tested it with a colorimeter on a normal piece of white paper, the result: only 4800 Kelvin. I couldn't find it online, not even direct from China! The only multi-voltage DC power supply found for $25, same price as the lamp! So I emailed OttLite asking if I could use a 5 volt adapter (mostly available online) instead. Their answer was no, they do not recommend using anything other than a 4.5 volt adapter. I then emailed them again and asked if they could suggest the make and model of the 4.5 volt adapter. Your answer is no. And it's not! When OttLite replied to my email, the representative said I should use a 3.4mm adapter. Good luck searching online! I asked him if the "regular" widely available 3.5mm would work, the rep's response was "You can try 3.5 but I can't say if it will work." So OttLite's customer service did didn't help at all. Some plus points: - Very light weight (even batteries inside), ideal for carrying. - Very small footprint, round base is approximately 3 1/2" in diameter - Easy access to battery compartment without tools (no screwdriver required).
