I bought these to replace some old Target water bottles (eg Greatland) that have a wide neck had in which a water filter could be used for cross-country hiking. I couldn't find those old Greatland water bottles so I bought them hoping they would make a good replacement. I used these new bottles for a multi-day Grand Canyon hike with my kids. They performed well during the ride but have not passed the durability test since. The plastic is not as durable as I would like. After that ride, a couple of bottles shattered upon hitting the sidewalk. They also tend to leak over time (they have a regular rubber seal like many bottles of this type). The old Greatland I had was constructed with a hard strong plastic lid that really tightened and never leaked. The cost of these bottles (Maars Tritan Wide Mouth 34 oz. BPA Free Sport Water Bottle) is good, but on a land trip (as mentioned above) I wouldn't use them due to the two downsides I described. They are good for everyday use.
