When I bought our house, I noticed a musty smell in the back room. I am very sensitive to mould, mold stains and synthetic fragrances. My friend recommended using an ozone generator to purify the air. It is not too expensive and can be put aside. I just set it up and made sure no one entered the room for several hours. You set a timer, start it and make sure windows and doors are tightly closed. When we came back and reopened the room we let it air out a bit and then found that all the bad smells were gone.
