So ours are exactly the size we ordered. If you want them to grow in them, buy them a size or two larger. We bought 3T and 7. One size up to allow for shrinkage and to fit clothing underneath. Common sense tells you to buy a size or two larger so that the coat/jacket matches your outfit. Thicker than Walmart's sweater, has a good lining, the hoodie has a good thickness (and our hoodie can be detachable), we have the gray color. The only downside is that the rope was everywhere.
