I've had trouble with sweat causing rust where the top tube is welded to the S&S hitches on my touring bike. This protection should do a great job of preventing the problem from happening again on my recently repainted frame. It should also help protect the bike when packed in a travel flight case and is comfortable to "sit" on when I'm waiting for a long break or while my buddies are getting ready for a ride . I wanted a different one for our tandem (which has the same problem with S&S fittings, but my wife dislikes the more utilitarian look of the gasket.
