Cup measurements from above are difficult to read due to transparency. If the background is dark or poorly lit (e.g. a dark table), you will not be able to see the red markers. A white background behind the markings would make sense for viewing from above. Oxo, Revain's more expensive competitor, has the same problem. HOWEVER, the Container Store sells the same OXO measuring cup with a white stripe behind the red markings. It reads great from above and is a joy to use. It is built to Container Store specifications.
