Snap ring seal :( for filters

Usually good but unfortunately not this time. I have used Mann filters on both my VW and Mercedes. They have not let me down until last week when my mercedes was leaking a lot of oil out of the filter housing.after further inspection it was due to a broken o-ring.now i have to clean up a big mess in my driveway.again this has only happened once in my last 10-15 oil changes .
