Review on ⌚ Gates TCKWP307A: Ensuring Precision with Engine Timing Belt Kit and Water Pump by Cliff Gibs

Great deal on Subaru timing belt replacement

This is the 3rd or 4th of these kits I have used to replace the timing belt on my Subaru and I have been happy with each one also the price is a serious discount from buying separately of parts and the convenience of having all the parts you need in one box. The kit also includes a gasket to install a guard over the crankshaft pulley and some information on installation and torque specs, although I think it's best to rely on Subaru's official information for such things. Parts are supplied by several manufacturers - the belt is Gates, the pulleys and tensioner are from Japanese companies - they look exactly like the originals. The pump looks a little different than the original - the impeller is different and the "fit" of the machined surfaces gives it a less elegant look, but I've had no problems with it. Comes with a coolant pump seal. To complete the work, you need to purchase a thermostat and gasket, as well as coolant. These kits have served me well for several years, clocking up hundreds of thousands of miles on two cars. Make sure to do your research if you have never done this fix as it contains some tricks and some common mistakes. If you have the time, tools, and skills to get the job done, these Gates kits can save you a lot of money compared to paying a mechanic.
