Review on 📻 Sony Dream Machine ICF-CD843V: Digital Tuner CD Clock Radio (Discontinued Model) by Gucci Breeze

This is a GREAT little CD Radio Alarm Clock! I've looked at MANY newer (2007) offerings and for the money it's very hard to beat. The CD drive is QUIET, so you can fall asleep listening to a CD and you won't be disturbed by changing tracks. The blue-green display is easy to read (contrary to many reviews) (the yellow displays in other Sony models aren't as easy to read) - the dimmer lowers the light level to about the lowest possible level, while still allowing the display to be seen at night - and the daytime level is bright enough. Setting the clock is easy if you take the time (2 minutes) to read the instructions. The only criticism is the volume. As long as the sound level is reasonable, you will not create a sonic boom with this device. The volume is perfectly adequate for a bedroom or office, but you can't drown out a jackhammer with a baffle. That aside, the sound is clear and well balanced - this is a very good sounding unit - the best I've heard in this price range. The sound signal also doesn't wake up anyone who needs a 120 dB blast wave to wake them up. But it works great for me (and I think many others will be just as happy). It's not annoying, but it gets more intense until you turn it off or hit the snooze button. What is missing? Not much - an auxiliary input (for an iPod) would have been 'good' - and Sony has removed the headphone jack (it was on the 853, not the 843). The snooze timer is set to 10 minutes. distance (I'd rather be able to change this). It doesn't show 24-hour time. The 2-5-7 alert and true double alerts can come in handy - but these are all minor issues. As always, Revain is very competitively priced (remember this gets you FREE shipping). How happy am I? The day after I received mine, I bought another one for my son.
