Maybe the wooden supports prevent the legs from falling off during use, but there are other problems. They are shrink wrapped which cannot be recycled. The legs are rounded so they don't sit flat and the felt pads don't stick. The bad finish is the worst. They are stained but have no top coat so smell strongly of wood stain. The stain is uneven and comes off the hands a little. We need to finish them and align the legs before we can use them.
