High cost and many design flaws

I really expected more from such a good company. I would not recommend this Spikefinder to anyone. I will give you a list of the main problems below. But the smaller and cheaper stud finders do it with no problem. All of my testing was done clean on a standard drywall, wood stud, standard residential plumbing. I would say #2, visibility is probably the main issue and really needed to be addressed before the product was made and released. 1. Discrepancy - Readings were everywhere even when I knew where the hairpin was. False statements were plentiful and quite annoying. Detection of the sides of the tip was also inconsistent, even after 3 fine-tuning scans as described in the manual.2. Visibility - Ring backlight is too bright and LCD is too dark; The ring light causes your pupils to narrow so that you can no longer see the LCD. When you turn on the LCD backlight, the viewing angle is only about 20 degrees, so you have to move your head up or down to get to where the scanner is. unless you always want to scan at eye level. doubtful. Very annoying and useless.3. Excessive AC Sensitivity - Unfortunately, it is so sensitive to AC that it really interferes with normal use of the scanner. They can be anywhere within a 12" radius of the AC power cords and the scanner will pick them up, disabling the ability to scan for pens. Again annoying and useless at this point.
