Close to perfection.

Would you like a screwdriver set that your children can inherit? Here please! I do maintenance and repair work at the hospital, so I use screwdrivers every day. I've gotten pretty picky as mediocre tools end up costing time and money. These are my favorite workbench screwdrivers. Some good screwdriver brands I recommend right off the bat are Apex, Proto, Wera, Wiha, Zephyr, Felo, Grace, PB Swiss, and Williams/Snap On. These wooden handle Felo screwdrivers are one of my favorites. The Germans know how to make tools. Pros: β€’ The overall quality is excellent, especially considering the price. The fit and finish isn't perfect, but they're really good and way better than what I expected for the price. The old school style of construction reminds me of my grandfather's tools, but the shape of the handle is very modern. β€’ Lithium-ion impact wrenches may not need it, but the padded stock, leather recoil pad, and machined hex bolsters make them great for removing stuck fasteners. Slap them hard on the back and twist them with a wrench like they've been doing for generations β€’ The quality is steel and the fit of the tip is amazing. The Phillips fit is one of the best I've used and they show no signs of wear even after heavy use. Hints are not played, which is a big plus. Just keep them lightly oiled. β€’ The shape of the grip (it's a newer design) is great, it's similar to the Wera but prefer this one as the diameter is more comfortable with larger grips. AND YOU DON'T DRIVE! (Why do companies still overlook this?!) β€’ When oily, greasy or wet, wooden grips don't become as slippery as plastic and rubber grips. Unlike rubber, they do not wear out, stick or attract dust. But to take advantage of this, you'll need to strip or sand down the factory finish. Cons: β€’ I would have preferred slotted tips to be hollow for convenience, but some users prefer the more traditional tapered design for speed. Felo 1/4" spline bits have a nice hollow grind (like most German and Czech brands). Too much polish/varnish on the handles. I don't think it's polyurethane and it comes off quickly with medium grit sandpaper. You can then further shape the grip to fit your hand. I prefer the Tru-Oil finish, but any decent BLO-based finish will protect the wood and improve grip. Use of third-party agents. I wouldn't use an adjustable wrench, but a smaller wrench will do.β€’ To be very picky, some of the stems are not flush with the plugs on the handle.A little work with a file or sandpaper fixes this. For the price, this is an unfair complaint.β€’Again, leads here shot peening is more prone to corrosion as it's too finicky A few minutes with some buffing pads solved the problem β€’ Here's my biggest complaint, this set doesn't have a Phillips #3 and Felo doesn't offer many additional options. I would like to see some Robertson, (square) torx, hex and hollow ground options. Conclusion: You can't get better quality for the price. For twice the price there is hardly anything better. If you are really picky it will take you about an hour to work on it, removing the factory paint, applying oil, polishing the shafts and sanding the end cap or 2 to get the stem flush. You'll probably want a Phillips #3, so factor that into your price. But despite all of that, they're likely to become your favorite screwdrivers and family heirlooms.
