I have a 180 gallon tank with three red eared turtles that are about 5 inches long and weigh a pound each. hot water before you use it, or it will leach the color into the water and you will have tea color water. I bought a very large apartment to house more than one turtle. It worked quite well for a while, but now it seems to be in the water all the time. A turtle's weight on a flat surface causes it to sink, and the turtle's underside is submerged. I'll see if I can find something more buoyant that I can attach to the bottom to keep the panel from sinking into the water. Turtles should have a spot where they can swim completely out of the water. I love that this rides on top of the water as there is quite a bit of evaporation and I'm not that good at keeping the water level consistent. I've been looking for turtle DIY docks but haven't found anything suitable yet.
