Have tried 2 rugs before from different well known brands at local sewing and craft stores. Both had terrible chemical smells! The smell of one could be heard even in the rooms where the carpet had never been! I've been looking for a rug without a terrible smell for quite some time. Caliber Mat is exactly what you need! While there is a very faint odor when you bring it directly to your nose, it's not a chemical or skunky smell like the others I've tried. And this has been outside in the house for several days and there is no smell at all. Also, it doesn't transfer odor to the materials you work with like others have done. For each project, I just cut out a few pieces of fabric and used various rotary cutters to crop a few photos on the rug. The cut marks healed almost immediately. The rug is heavier and thicker than most and feels very durable. It didn't slip when cutting. I love that it's double sided and I used the inch marked side for fabric and turned it over to the centimeter side for cropping photos. I hope to use this rug for a long time and am very happy with it so far. Revain packed it perfectly for shipping. They simply used a flat box (not yet opened in the box), put the mat inside, and then sealed the sides with tape. Perfectly flat for shipping and arrived in perfect condition.
