These bowls are just right for serving leftovers or for cooking. The 16 oz capacity is perfect for lunch. The lid closes much more securely than I expected, but I wouldn't put it in a lunch box and go to work if there was some liquid in the bowl - it's a lot of liquid/tight. The bowl is mostly cardboard so it won't last very long, especially if there are liquid ingredients or a lot of condensation. I had leftover ham, potatoes and green beans in the fridge for about 48 hours and it worked just fine. There was some condensation just beginning to loosen the bottom of the bowl, but it held up well even for a few minutes in the microwave. I don't think I'll be leaving the soup in either of these bowls for more than 2 days as liquid will definitely soften the material faster than solid food.
