Review on Amcrest SmartHome ASH43-W: 4MP Outdoor WiFi Bullet Camera with Night Vision and Built-in Mic by Justin Pavelko

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Beautiful design, solid workmanship and great functionality!

I would like to start by saying that I REALLY like the design and build quality of the Amcrest cameras and other products. I've always been a big fan of theirs, recently started buying their products and am very happy with them. I currently have a POE dome cam, an analog bullet cam, a keyless door lock and now this wifi bullet cam. from the Smart House series. I can't express how much I love his look. The build quality is also second to none. I have several other cameras that I bought from Best Buy as part of an NVR bundle and the build quality is just terrible. They are thin and made out of cheap plastic. I wish I could buy an Amcrest system instead, but I've learned my lesson. I think I will gradually replace these other cameras with the Amcrest brand. But back to this camera. Great build quality aside, the image quality is very sharp and clean (ignore the image I uploaded as Revain does some compression which degrades the quality a bit). The camera itself is very sensitive to motion detection and also has excellent night vision capabilities. I think once our home renovation is complete I'll take a few more of these and complete the Amcrest camera system for our property. Room for improvement: I ran into some issues while setting up the camera. Using the smart home app was pretty easy, but to make it work with the other dome camera I have you need to add it to another app on your phone and if you want it on your iPad too is shown. , then you need to add cameras to iPad again. If you want it to work with your desktop or laptop, it's a completely different process. Although the desktop/laptop app is very detailed and has many amazing features, it can be difficult to get all the apps to interact with each other. I have forwarded this message to Amcrest and I hope they can connect all the apps so you can just set everything up in one app or device and then log into any other device and see all the cameras. in one place without additional configuration. There are other manufacturers that do the same and while their products are not as high quality as Amcrest, the installation process is much simpler. If Amcrest can get their developers to unify applications, it will be of great benefit to Amcrest and potentially lead to a higher level. One of the most important things I learned as a software developer and in the UI/UX class is that user experience is VERY important. If you get this part right - especially for the average person - then you'll have a much higher success rate in expanding your user base. All in all, the camera is great. Here, too, the design, workmanship and functionality are first class. The value for what you pay is hard to beat. On the hardware side, this is an excellent product. The software side definitely needs some polishing though. 5 stars overall but minus 1 star for software issues.
