First of all they don't stick to the plastic back wall of my floating aquarium. Both have run away multiple times. However, they stuck to the glass walls like glue, which is enough for me. If you have a plastic backed aquarium and want to use it for this space, be careful. YMMV, like everything else of course. These little cups are very cute and really help add some depth and interest to the space in my aquarium. They hold 2/3 to 1 cup of substrate plus a few small cuttings. Betta LOVES to sit in them near the surface.
