Cup holder interface top notch. Oddly enough, tightening is counterclockwise, but once you understand this, you just need to remember it. But it works great and stays strong. The gooseneck is VERY stiff. Therefore, it is difficult to bend the shape. I tried to support the joints as they flexed so as not to break the weaker spot. I would say bend it to the shape you want and don't expect to bend it every day. Spin is excellent, spins easily but holds position. My phone is only about 3.5 inches wide so I put it on the long side of the holder and it works great. The device shakes very little on rough roads, but no more than I expected. I would say less than expected. I like it a lot more than the ones I had on the vent. I like having the phone closer to the armrest so I can steady my hand while using the device. That's the most important thing you can't think about. I think the only downside to this position is that you have to look down a bit more than if you were further up the dash area. This isn't a problem as I don't think you should be looking at your phone any longer than you are looking at another person in a car or looking out a side or rear window. It's only been 1 week so we'll see how it holds up. Don't expect any problems.
