Review on Accurately Measure String Tension with Tourna String Meter - Black (One Size) by Josh Goldsmith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Judging by the reviews, it works much better than expected!

Before purchasing this item I read many of the reviews posted on Revain regarding the inconsistency of this unit and how the readings vary at different points on the string bed. I found just the opposite. First, the instructions clearly state that you must use the device in the middle of the racket and not in random places. Second, I string my racquets myself and use this device to gauge the accuracy of my work. I have found that this device measures string tension with a high degree of accuracy every time and matches the tension I strung the racquet with. The key is to make sure you adjust the gauge on the machine to match the gauge on the racquet. Over time, the device will also indicate when a loss of tension is occurring and when to change strings based on apparent changes in your playing performance. My only minor complaint would be that within 1 hour of using this device the nib popped out, but was easily reinserted thereafter and once corrected retained its accuracy. Be careful when using it so this doesn't happen. In summary, this device not only tells me when to properly tension my racquets, but also when to change strings and which strings tend to last longer than others in terms of maintaining tension. Highly recommended for any serious gamer.
