The best thing about this water still is how quickly it makes a gallon of water. 4 hours is great compared to the 6 hours that other distillers take. Unfortunately, that's the only great thing about this burner. The thought of not being able to remove the lid of the carafe to clean it and especially to dry it thoroughly is terrifying. I don't like this jug/glass waterfall and the handle is the worst! Very unstable. Luckily I still have a glass carafe from my old water still. Not sure why either, but there was a lot of black residue in the machine's removable upper head. If you purchase this product, expect about 5 gallons of water to be made before this black residue goes away. After the 5th gallon it seems fine. In addition, the company must consider that most well water users do not need to use disposable carbon filters. They will most likely be needed by urban water users. I don't think I would buy this burner again, mainly because of the glass carafe.
