This is the replacement unit I received as the glass bottle of the first one was cracked. It still has a metallic taste after five cleaning cycles. To return. I don't recommend it.

Worked great at first. The underside seems fairly rust resistant, but the top of the burner was starting to rust and the water was starting to smell like metal that had seeped into it (I use water for humidifiers, so haven't really tried it).

I read some reviews about this burner and decided to buy it. I'm not disappointed. I use it every few days to distill our drinking water and it's definitely worth buying. I'm tired of going to the store and buying plastic bottles of distilled water, which also gets expensive. This car pays off. It's easy to use and clean, and I use cold water that takes about 4 hours to distill.

The best thing about this water still is how quickly it makes a gallon of water. 4 hours is great compared to the 6 hours that other distillers take. Unfortunately, that's the only great thing about this burner. The thought of not being able to remove the lid of the carafe to clean it and especially to dry it thoroughly is terrifying. I don't like this jug/glass waterfall and the handle is the worst! Very unstable. Luckily I still have a glass carafe from my old water still. Not sure why…

I bought this burner from another company and as soon as I opened the package I smelled a terrible plastic smell. sent it off exactly as he said. but I ran 8 gallons through the unit and never got rid of the plastic smell and taste.
