I use this with an electric car to control things around the house when the power is out. The car charges the 12V battery from the large high-voltage battery when the ignition is on, so the inverter runs for several days. Locked the car with the second key. You really should cover the red wire on the inverter when it's connected directly to the car battery to prevent an accidental short circuit between the two terminals (right next to each other) from causing an arc, fire, or explosion. An ammeter is great for seeing how much your system is drawing and how long you can run. Enough power for a large fridge. It took 1200 watts to start but after a moment it dropped to 200 watts. I had to make my own cables to get the right length. All items from the auto parts shop. I used 4 AWG wire for 3 foot cable. You can use a vise and screw head to crimp large tabs to make a recess. Be sure to shrink the ends to avoid metal exposure in this high current scenario.
