Pretty good timer extension, but having to use a workaround to immediately see if your AUTO programming mode is working is stupid. - Set the time just ahead of the current time, wait for AUTO mode to turn on, then go back and change the time to what you really need. The two power strips I have use an LR44 coin cell battery, but old manuals I found online say an AA battery is required. To be honest I wish they had stuck with one AA battery. It would also be nice to have an indication that the battery needs to be replaced. If the battery dies and you lose power, your programming will be lost.
