This was easy to do with a utility knife and wasn't required.
I used them in a 2016 Chevy Colorado. They fit perfectly in terms of outside diameter and shape and did exactly what they were supposed to do. For my Infinity 6x9 loudspeakers I had to reduce the inner diameter a bit, which probably depends on the loudspeakers. This was easy to do with a utility knife and didn't take much.
