Review on Lifegard Aquatics Adjustable Quartz Glass Aquarium Heater - UL Listed, Bi-Metal Electronic Construction - 300 Watt with Suction Cup Mounting Brackets and Thermal Protection by Tiffany Thompson

I bought this heater in the "beginner aquarist" kit which has been "written on the wall" in terms of its quality. Part of the package was a cheap thermometer which I recently replaced with a quality thermometer. What read 82 degrees on a cheap thermometer was actually 89 degrees as read on a new one. Adding to the problem, the heater was set to 76! Lifegard is now at its lowest level (68) and heats up to 85.5 degrees. Buyers beware...you get what you pay for.
