Contrary to the other review here, my order was matte on BOTH sides of the label. Either the manufacturer has listened to the feedback, or Revain is changing suppliers. The plastic is of decent quality - it doesn't crack or break from over-bending or over-tightening. Time will tell how well they hold up to weathering, but since only black ones are UV resistant, I don't expect extra long outdoor life for these natural (clear) cable ties. Fairly easy to read with a fine point marker (that's the regular size!), haven't tried an ultra fine point (smaller) yet. It's not as jet black as writing on cardstock, but it's legible. If you repeat what you wrote, it gets a little darker. More importantly, as these labels are transparent/translucent, you can see what is written on the other side. If you write on both sides, it may be harder to read overall. A total of 100 copies for $4.99 is a bargain and the quality is worth the price. (January 24, 2018)
