Very strong chemical smell as soon as you open the box

I ordered these because they had good reviews. When you open the packaging, there is a very strong chemical smell. I'm not sure if it's formaldehyde or some kind of bleach, but I won't keep them. I can't imagine washing would result in that order and I certainly wouldn't use them to dry dishes or anything we use in the kitchen. I used to order lots of bags of flour and never had that smell. I will return them or maybe just throw them in the bin.
