My kids are now in their 30s, so it's been a while since I installed one of these. I recently purchased two to keep my small dogs out of guest bedrooms. Installation was easy and logical. The gate is sturdy and operates as it should. Because my gates are for small dogs and not children, I elected not to use the installation option using screws. I opted to install just using pressure. Even at that, I feel the gate is very secure. I like the gate so much that I have just ordered a third.
