Zoom focus requires operation

Focus problems when zooming can sometimes make the zoom almost unusable. The lack of manual control of shutter speed, focus or anything else. I love to shoot time lapse waterfalls and stuff like that which is totally impossible with this camera. However, I can't find a camera in this price range that has this feature, so I can't necessarily deduct a star for it. But I'm feeling a little generous just docking because of a scaling issue. While shooting the video, I zoomed in on the waterfall, leaving the entire image blurry for a good 30 seconds before finally coming into focus. I really don't see a good excuse for this, wildlife photography can be almost impossible. I managed to shoot a squirrel and a woodpecker, but only from a distance so they wouldn't be too afraid to shoot.
