I think the idea behind this ledge is great. You don't want to have floating shelves.
I think the idea behind this strip is great. You don't want things sliding off floating shelves. However, this makes the shelf look even smaller. MAKE SURE you measure this floating shelf before purchasing. It looks smaller than in the picture. My other floating bookshelves in the house are larger and look a little less clunky than this one. However, it was fairly easy to install. it took about 20 minutes. I don't think I would put books or anything in it but for me it serves the purpose of putting glasses and earplugs by the bed.
