Review on 💡 Dataprobe iBoot-G2 Basic Network Power Switch: Remote Rebooting for Home Automation (1 Outlet, Routers, Webcams, Servers) by William Turner

Updated 4/5/2018. The device has been working flawlessly for over 4 years. They even added a remote web interface at no extra cost. I'm upgrading my rating to 5 stars and would recommend it to anyone looking for remote power management. Update February 20, 2014: I was contacted directly by Charles, CTO of Dataprobe in October after reading this review. I was told there is a bug in the firmware and the latest version will fix the problem. He offered to send a new device after the latest firmware could no longer be tested. As promised, the new device was delivered in November. At first I thought I had a similar problem, but I found a problem with my network and the new device has been working for 3 months with no problems. I changed my rating to 4 runs. My only downside is that iBoot G2 doesn't support HTTPS. This was a known limitation and I couldn't find any devices that support encryption in this price range. However, I hope that Dataprobe will work with a new chipset that can support TLS. I will have no problem giving Dataprobe a 5 star rating. They exceeded my expectations with their help in resolving this issue. Original Review: The first device I bought stopped working after about 30 minutes. Bought a replacement and returned the original. I knew there was a problem when I updated the firmware and the MAC address changed and ended in 00 00 00. Since this didn't cause any problems, I didn't contact support. I decided to install the block as it worked fine. Unfortunately it stopped working after about 30 days. It continues to provide power to the connected NAS, but is no longer visible on the network switch. I have not contacted support because the device has been removed and I do not have access to it at the moment. I will read this review again if support can resolve my issue and/or replace the device. For the price of this device I would recommend buyers to look elsewhere.
