This pet gate met my expectations. We installed it in a 32 inch wide door. When I first opened the box I thought the product was faulty as there were gaps at the top and bottom where the door was supposed to close. I then turned over the orange label which clearly said the gaps were not a defect and would close once the door was properly installed. Indeed it was. What I like about this gate: * Quick and easy installation * Door guard included * No scratches, dents, dents anywhere * Fairly easy one-handed opening with thumb and forefinger * The door actually closes automatically no matter which way I swing it open. My cats can easily climb over it, which is exactly what I wanted. My dog is more than big and agile enough to jump over it if he wants to. Luckily, she doesn't have the slightest motivation to do so. She seems to both understand and accept, this is where she has to stop unless we open the door and invite her to the other side. Black metal and wood accents complement our decor perfectly. I looked at dozens of pet and child gate options before settling on this one. I am very happy with this purchase. Considering the price (about $50 at the time of purchase), the looks, the quality of materials/build and the ease of use, I don't think I could do anything better. ONE MONTH UPDATE: We're putting something in front of the open door to keep the gate open at night. I noticed that the gate no longer closes automatically from this direction. I suspect this is because we introduced a voltage drop in the internal spring mechanism. We don't really care, but just wanted to make a quick update in case it might be important to someone else. If you want the door's auto-close feature to work, make sure you don't leave it open for long periods of time.
