I didn't know this was an active adapter that needed USB power. Now I see my stupidity. That being said, I'm still deducting a star for the need for USB power. I use it to connect my Microsoft Surface to a projector. The Surface has a USB port, but only one. So if you want to use an adapter, you can't connect a mouse or USB drive. That being said, if you're hooking this up to a projector, you probably won't be walking around with it. I ended up using a USB wall charger to power the adapter. removed and we had a mirror display. I am very happy.
