Indispensible Precision Wood-working Tool

I was reluctant to buy this rasping file because it was so expensive. And I was rightly concerned that the abrasive coating would be fragile—it is. In using the tool to precision shape walnut wood, I do sometimes lose coating, which will shorting the file’s lifespan. However, when it comes to precision-shaping wood so that it exactly fits an adjacent abutting surface, this is the tool to have. These days a lot of " professionals " do sloppy cuts and fill the gaps with caulking or cover with moulding. But when irregular pieces must match with complementary exactitude, careful wood-working with this rasp gives the results that most " professionals " are too money-driven to achieve. This tool is for the hobbiest for whom high-quality results take precedence over finishing the job quickly. What will I do when the fragile coating wears thin? Buy another one, of course.

Pros
  • Its really sharp and its cutting material is very durable.
Cons
  • Limited range of motion due to long blade length
