I was looking for something to replace the large, heavy wood chest we were using as a coffee table. I wanted something padded (we like to put our feet up), but everything I found was box-like and cheap looking. I also wanted something a little nicer looking, and something light weight I could easily move to vacuum under. This bench looks lovely with our dark brown and tan colored sectional. The neutral tan fabric has a nice texture, and the dark stained wood legs are clean and classic. I use a large wood serving tray on top to set an occassional drink or snack for convenience.This bench makes me think of a piano bench in length and width. The storage is rather shallow, but I only keep a couple of throw pillows inside. We push it against the wall and put the "hidden" throw pillows on top to clear some extra floor space and add additional seating when we have guests. I could also see this being a great bench to put at the end of a bed, and possibly keep extra sheets inside.The only slight issue is I had trouble getting the legs bolted on tight enough, and one seems loose after repeated moves across the carpet. Otherwise I am more than happy with this bench / coffee table, and it turned out to be just what I was looking for and at a reasonable price.
