Review on Nature's Miracle Self-Cleaning Litter Box for Multiple Cats by Christina Luhrs

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Weak engine and sump too small

I have several kittens (3 kittens: 2 x 6lbs and 1 x 8lbs) and 1 adult cat of 10lbs. So I chose this self cleaning unit to better control the waste as there is so much of it. It's not just a box. But as far as I know, this autocooperator is really just an expensive manual litter box. There are several design flaws. 1) The pan is too shallow and needs to be deeper because the bottom is half an inch out of reach for the auto scoop. The compartment only allows for maybe 1.5 inches of debris. A little more and it will get stuck, which doesn't make it automatic. The problem with litter at such a low level is that when cats dig, and they dig, the litter ends up on the floor. This machine does not collect dirt from below. You have to pick it up by hand. Their built in shovel is pretty bad design too. And in fact, it only collects the litter that falls down and is big. I still have to use my shovel. The recommended fill level on my filler bag is 3 to 4 inches. I've tried dropping the litter to see if my cats would take a smaller amount and no, in protest they are starting to have accidents outside of the litter box. So you need more garbage. Yes, it's good that there is less garbage, they can fool around and throw it away, but in principle this is not enough, and everyone protests. 2) The motor is very weak and does not have enough torque. Even with a small amount of dirt in 1.5 inches, the motor often intervenes. I hear it clicking all the time and then getting stuck. Especially one of my messy cats who loves rearranging her litter box. It also gets stuck when multiple cats disturb the litter. Multiple cats make a mess when more than one digs and gets in in a short amount of time. The motor has a real problem trying to make it to the end when the cats have rearranged the litter to cover their litter and it's all on the same page now. 3) Paddle needles are too wide. The trash breaks up into smaller pieces and just falls down and I'm left with trash that isn't really scooped out and clean and the trash gets broken up into small pieces. And that's why cats don't use this box anymore because it stinks. Sometimes the waste sticks to the needles and doesn't fall into the tray as intended. I think due to the same issue the gap between them is too big and the dirt gets easily wedged between them, especially when he tries to carry the litter forward through the kitty litter which gently pushes him between them. Floor. The plastic bowl is thin. The plastic pallets they supply have all sorts of cracks and gaps. A plastic pallet lasts about a day, but then becomes weighted down with a small amount of litter (not completely filled) and then deforms, creating gaps when the scoop arrives and the debris falls to the floor in the gap below. . This area is not easy to clean as it has some ribs to keep the plastic plan in place. I tried rotating the plastic container to see if one side worked better as one side has this ridge which I think makes it easier to lift out of the hole. No, both ways were equally bad. I ended up gluing the lid closest to the edge to prevent it from coming up and adding more security so it doesn't go missing as often. That helped a lot, but there are still gaps on the sides that debris still falls through. In conclusion, despite the fact that I have an automatic shovel. I still clean this tray every day (as does my hand drawer) because it doesn't clean very well. The description says it will fit multiple cats over 15 pounds. This design doesn't even do well with small cats under 10lbs, I don't think it will be able to handle larger cats that leave more litter and dig harder. It is a good idea. But I think this has too many design flaws that need to be fixed before it actually works. Update: 7 months later. This product is completely dead. I got home to find it stuck (constant clicking). I pushed the button to reset it. Returned to the same place. Clicking on it no longer deletes the track. I noticed that it doesn't look even on either side anymore. No doubt it was stuck, and since I wasn't home who knows how long it was stuck in that position. This product is now completely broken. What garbage! If I could give fewer stars I would. I have changed my original 2 stars to 1 star.
