Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Optimized Feedback Sports Velo Wall Rack by Minas Chase

Not very suitable for mountain bikes due to wider handlebars!

As an engineer I sometimes come across products from really great companies - for example the Velo Cache 2 floor shelf - it's a work of art and its functionality. Cache is a great design and keeps all bikes really safe and easy. So I thought the wall shelf would be similar in design because it's from the same company - NO! That makes me scratch my head. For example, the Cache's nicely curved rubber mounts have been replaced with stiffer rubber step mounts, so now the bike doesn't press down evenly on the frame but instead rests on the treads, making it more prone to wobble. This new stand design isn't half as good as the cache, but it is what it is. The most surprising thing is that these guys don't need to have tested this rack on mountain bikes because if they did, they would see that they had to lengthen the levers a few inches. The only way to put your mountain bike on it is to turn the handlebars all the way to the side. Not only does it look crappy when hung, but the wheel juts out 8 inches into the room, making it easy to trip when walking past it. What's worse, because you have to turn the steering wheel - the end of the steering wheel. WILL come into contact with the wall - over time you will hollow out the wall. Eventually when you mount two racks on top of each other so that two bikes can be stacked on top of each other this is a big problem with the top bike rack because you put the handlebars to one side have to turn when lifting the bike onto the stands. This could be such a great product - if the arms were just 2 inches longer they could really hold road bikes and mountain bikes. Without problems. I fixed it by adding a 2" spacer behind it, it's a bit ugly and jury rigged but better than having it back. Keep in mind that you will need to do some woodwork if you want this MTB to fit properly. I'm giving this product one star - because honestly it's poorly constructed - we don't have to make spacers to get the bit to sit properly. (see photos - the picture with the wheel inside shows how the mountain bike fits into the rack, ironically this is a photo from their website. The other photos show what I had to do to get the rack up to the standard MTB correct , I still have some paint left to spice it up.
