Review on 📻 Nooelec NESDR Smart v4 SDR: Premium RTL-SDR with Aluminum Enclosure, 0.5PPM TCXO, SMA Input - Software Defined Radio Review by Keith Morris

I have used the UniTrunker software with a cheaper receiver with RTL2832U and R820T tuners. It worked, but the drift corrections were huge, the receiver was slightly overloaded, and the sensitivity/selectivity was not up to scratch. This little NooElec receiver basically fixes all of those problems for just a few bucks. Because it uses the same receiver and tuner, it was an easy replacement for my other receiver. He took off and immediately got to work. I am monitoring a VHF P25 trunked system that is having occasional simulcast issues. This can really hit receivers trying to hear distant towers. I'm not going to say that this NooElec receiver is completely immune to RF attacks, but it is head and shoulders above the slightly cheaper versions. I also tried wiretapping a nearby 800 P25 system. My old receiver barely registers the control channel, while the NooElec, with the same antenna and gain settings, holds the tower with ease and provides reliable decoding over 60 miles in the air. It also comes with a real plug! The so-usual pesky MCX connectors are completely eliminated by NooElec and its SMA connector. All in all, if your software calls for a receiver with an RTL2832U and R820T tuner, it's hard to beat the NooElec with even radios twice the price. Very happy with the update.
