Size by the actual measurements listed. The picture says model is 6’ 1” with a 33” waist and is wearing a Medium, I would say he’s probably wearing a Large in the picture. I’m a 34-35 waist, but I like these type of pants to be snug around the waist so went with the M, M is WAY too tight. Lying flat, I measure the waist to be 30-30.5 inches, inseam is 28.5 inches. I understand hiking pants should run a little short, but it hard to believe the 6’1” , 33”” waist model is wearing a M in the picture. Large would probably fit me better. Pockets could be slightly bigger. Zippered pockets stretch to barely fit an iPhone 13pro. Cargo pockets have flap with no velcro or button. Material, fit and finish seems very good.
