It just doesn't work - not at all. Actually install the item or I would try to return it (I've returned to Revain maybe 1 item in 7 years so I'm not a serial criminal). I have an old TV - Sony circa 1995. The TV works well and is in the guest room so it is not used very often. It doesn't have an HMDI connector, but it does have plenty of RCA inputs. I wanted to connect a Fire Stick so guests could watch Netflix during their stay. I've tried a thousand times and it just doesn't work. Not with a Fire Stick, not with a cable, not with a DVD player. You know, if I'm tech savvy enough to convert the 3 modems in my house to work as repeaters, I can certainly come up with some crazy HDMI converter. Don't risk it
