I've never used them and never heard of anyone using them until 2020 when I saw someone use them to connect rainwater butts. Considering the price I decided it was worth a try. It was a good decision. Bulkhead fittings can drive a person insane trying to screw them onto a curved surface, and for a 50-gallon plastic closed-top drum, installing a bulkhead fitting is extremely difficult. Uniseal adapters are ideal for this purpose. Cut a hole, insert the Uniseal into the hole, and then insert the PVC pipe into the hole. It's literally that simple. I will buy them again.
