My mother's laptop broke and caught fire so she had to buy a new one. Her old computer had a few pictures and files she wanted to save, but the laptop wouldn't even boot up. I took her laptop to several local chain computer stores and was told it would cost around $100 to remove the files from her old laptop. She wasn't exactly sure what files were there or what she needed to store, so we didn't know if it was worth figuring out if she needed things or not. I noticed that stores use this product to connect a hard drive, so I went home and found it to buy. Her laptop was old, so most of the other adapters didn't have the right pin configuration to fit her hard drive. This worked great. I was able to connect the hard drive from her laptop. This adapter powered the hard drive and I was able to browse her files to find any documents she might need or want to keep. Plus it was really affordable!
